humidification

I want to ask about the humidification for the preterm baby wich are carring in the Giraffe Omni Bed.For our unit there is a new incubator.What is the initial humidity and after many days we can wean humidity and how we need to wean humidity?

Very much dependent upon gestational age/skin condition.
The younger-(gestationally) the more humidity the infant will require.
Some of the little ones in our unit require up to 60-70% humidity for several days, unitl the maturation of the skin.

Hi there, in our unit in Hamilton New Zealand, we humidify the little ones to 80% and keep it at this level until the baby's skin is mature - this can be up to a month with the 24 weekers. Since we started doing this the skin condition does seem to be much better.
