I'd like to share with you you experinces in respiratory morbidities in late preterm (near term ) infants?

Need for CPAP?
Need for surfactant?
Need for Mechanical ventilation?
In your opinion what is the best timing for an elective CS?

Dear hehady,
I guess you mean 33-36 week infants by late preterm/near term infants.

Our experience is that most of these infants only get a low-grade RDS, a "wet lung" - maybe about half of these infants are given nCPAP the first days of life in our units.

It is quite uncommon that we give surfactant to those infants, but we do give socalled INSURE procedure (intub, surf, extub) to some infants (with an a/a-ratio of <0.22)

Unless severe complications happen (sepsis, pneumo etc) we almost never need to use mechanical ventilation to this group of infants.

That's the vote from Stockholm!
