Best wishes....
Any new experience with the use of phenobarbitone in treatment of neonatal cholestasis?
Thanks

We do not administer phenobarbital in cases of neonatal cholestasis.
In PubMed I found these article in support of our strategy (but literature seems really sparse):

On the other hand, we may give ursodeoxycholic acid to infant (especially preterms) with cholestasis as a result of long-term TPN.

we use phenobarb only in preparation for HIDA scan.we get a lot of cases where we have to differentiate between EHBA and severe cholestasis of other causes
