Vitamin A in neonate

Does anyone have any experience on Vitamin A usage in VLBW premie. I would appreciate your input in this regard.

In our nicu unit we give vitaminA 5,000 unit (0.1ml) IM for all low birthweight babies(born less than 1250 gms)every monday,wednesday and friday for 4 weeks.

Wath is age of initiation the vitamina A in your Units

In Aiims, Vitamin A 5000 IU thrice weekly for 28 days( 4 weeks) to babies <1000 & < 30 weeks with respiratory distress or oxygen requirements beyond 24 hrs of age. This is to prevent BPD. Refer AIIMS protocols at www.newbornwhocc.org
