Could you please specify, is it the ventilation system that is colonized?

what i mean that i have the pipe system for compressed air & oxygen used for ventilators, my problem is that we suspect sepsis to be present in the compressed air pipe system, how to sterilize it?

I think you would need to discuss this with the provider of the gas system.
I would think it is a quite tricky thing to achieve. You would probably de-pressurize the whole system and you would need loose gas tubes to keep ventilators going while the cleaning is done.

What made you think the gas system is colonized?

I really doubt whether the oxygen and air pipes would be sources of infection. Though not impossible.
There are many causes of increased nosocomial infection- which are more likely and yet not so easy to solve. You have to really do a complete survey of your NICU to find various sources of possible infection.
Assess personnel, equipments and behaviours. Compliance with hand hygiene and other preprocedure cleaning processes should get special attention. Handling of central catheters should be carefully reviewed.
If you are hunting for other sources look for damp/wet places like suction bottles, humidifiers, etc.
By the way I want to know what organism is causing the outbreak?
Also if you really have an outbreak, you should close you NICU for all admissions till the problem is tackled.
